Product Description

Dow’s 40 Year Old Tawny Port is a sublime example of time-honored craftsmanship from Douro’s Boa Vista lodges. Matured for four decades in seasoned oak barrels, it combines elegance, power, and age with poise.

Appearance: Pale amber to golden hue with a delicate green-tinged rim reflecting its maturity.

Aroma: Complex bouquet of dried figs, golden raisins, toasted walnuts, praline, and subtle perfume of violet and tea leaves.

Palate: Luxuriously silky, unveiling layers of caramel, butterscotch, dried stone fruits, and a refined nutty texture. A bright acidity keeps it fresh despite its age.

Finish: Long, graceful, and slightly drier—highlighting hazelnut husk, cinnamon, ginger, and a lingering tea-leaf nuance.

Accolades:

  • 96 points, Wine Spectator for its balanced nutty spices

  • 96 points, James Suckling, praised for its depth and polished sweetness

  • 92–93 points, Wine Enthusiast, commended for its bright acidity and resinous fortitude

"Offers a broad and exotic feel, with argan oil, walnut and hazelnut husk, and dried peach and date flavors all in the mix. There's also incense, green tea and toasted sesame accents through the long finish, which ripples with subtly nervy tension. Drink now. 200 cases made, 50 cases imported." Wine Spectator 96 Points
