Hello, ZOX family! I’ve been a Zoxer since early February 2018, and have worked as a freelance writer and editor for the company for just over a year now. I asked Jason if he could create a Warriors Together Strap because as someone who has lived with chronic pain and C-PTSD for many years, I’ve learned how important it is to build a strong and varied support network. Those of us who deal with chronic issues often have a tendency to hold family, friends and medical professionals at a distance because we’ve been told too many times that “it’s all in your head” or “If you would just try x/y/z, you’d be fine.” It can be very difficult to be open about your struggles and ask for support when you’ve been bombarded with well-meaning but sometimes useless and/or hurtful advice.
To combat my own tendency to be withdrawn, I started trying to connect with people with similar issues via social media, and would sometimes add #WarriorsTogether to my comments. That’s my way of saying, “I see you. I admire your strength and offer you some of mine.” This method of supporting others and gathering support for myself has become extremely meaningful to me, especially during this crazy year when we all have so little direct, physical contact with others. We can still offer and ask for support even when we can’t be face-to-face, whether it is through social media, phone calls, letters or wearing a little hug for our wrists.
I suggested feathers for the design of this Single (executed by our terrifically talented Darren) because to me they symbolize the amazing strength we can gain by banding together. Feathers on their own may look wispy and fragile, but when they are put together, they can accomplish that most wonderful feat of strength and agility: flight. And so, if your chronic issues have you feeling down or worn out, or have you thinking that you’re trapped or not worthy, please remember that you are NOT alone. Look for a community of others who know what you’re going through and add your beautiful spirit to theirs. Share your strength and remember: together, we are warriors who can overcome anything.
