Story I'm sure many of us are looking forward to the weekend ahead. Warm weather is already upon those of us in Southern California. Bright sun, clear skies, a gentle breeze... Even baby animals are beginning to peek their heads out of their dens and nests into their very first spring. Hard to not feel great at the promise of a wonderful season ahead of us after the chills of winter. In other words, the perfect vibes for rest, relaxation,... and no drama! Now, what do you get when you combine these feel-good vibes with some irresistibly cute and fluffy llamas? A brand new Strap to celebrate the occasion, of course!  I was heavily inspired by the contemporary painting style of Disney Legend Mary Blair, whose distinct aesthetic can be seen in full display on the "It's A Small World" attraction found at Disney Parks around the globe. For the desert elements, I wanted to emulate a traditional hand-drawn chalk look that would pair well with the retro-styled llamas. What helped me further was reminiscing on the many trips I've taken out to Palm Desert in the past, and the variety of regional artwork I saw at its art shows and local farmer's markets. Additionally, I wanted to capture the aged mid-century color palette that was synonymous between these two design inspirations -  a time period where lots of salmon and teal shades were seen in clothing, buildings, and cars. The 1950s was a seen as a decade of "Happy Days" especially compared to the previous era of World War II, so I thought: why not utilize the romanticization of the period and encapsulate that positive perspective in a Strap?
