Product Description

Pendleton Directors’ Reserve 20 Year is Pendleton’s flagship aged release and a bold attempt to bridge Canadian whisky tradition with American branding flair. Its 20 years in oak gives it a depth that’s missing in younger expressions of the brand. While not an ultra-rare vintage, it delivers mature oak, dried fruit, spice, and abstract complexity. It’s best appreciated neat or with minimal dilution so you can follow its evolution in the glass.

Origins & Craftsmanship

  • Brand & Identity: Pendleton is a Canadian blended whisky brand (distilled in Canada, bottled in Oregon) under Proximo Spirits.

  • Age Statement: This is aged 20 years in American oak barrels.

  • Proof / ABV: 40% ABV (80 proof)

  • Water Source: It is cut to proof with glacier-fed spring water from Mt. Hood, Oregon.

  • Blending / Style: As a Canadian whisky, it is a blended whisky (so it may include multiple grain whiskies, perhaps some aging in different casks).

Tasting Profile

Element Notes / Impressions
Appearance Very light amber in color.
Nose / Aroma Light brown sugar, vanilla, toasted oak, waxy and gentle, a touch of dried fruit (apricot / pear) and leather.
Palate / Taste Starts with oak and toasted flavors, buttered toast, almond notes; shifts to molasses, caramel, some red berries and baking spice.
Finish Medium length — oak, dried fruits, and soft spice linger, though some find it a bit thin or fading.

Food & Pairings

  • Serve / Serving Suggestions
     • Best enjoyed neat or with a single large ice cube or small splash of water to coax out secondary notes.
     • Use a tulip or Glencairn glass to capture subtle aromatics.

  • Food Pairings
     • Rich desserts: crème brûlée, pecan pie, caramel or toffee-based desserts
     • Nuts & dried fruits: toasted almonds, walnuts, figs, dates
     • Chocolate: dark chocolate (60–70%) — the oak and fruit interplay suits chocolate’s tannins
     • Cheese & charcuterie: aged gouda, manchego, cured meats with slightly sweet glazes
     • Smoked meats / BBQ: especially pork or beef with a caramel or molasses glaze
