Product Description

A quintessential expression of maritime Highland whisky, the Old Pulteney 12 Year Old is both inviting and nuanced. It delivers bright, briny character balanced with orchard fruit, honeyed sweetness, and gentle spice, making it an elegant daily dram that remains deeply expressive and harmonious.

Origins & Craftsmanship
Distilled in the historic Old Pulteney Distillery, perched on Scotland’s far-northern northeast coast in Wick, this 12-year-old single malt captures the spirit of its rugged seaside birthplace. Established in 1826, the distillery harnesses pure Highland water, traditional copper pot stills, and a cool, coastal climate to shape a whisky with distinctive character.

After distillation, the spirit matures for a minimum of 12 years in a carefully selected regime of oak casks—predominantly ex-bourbon followed by secondary maturation in seasoned oak. This extended ageing allows the spirit to integrate wood influence while preserving vibrant fruit and maritime subtleties. The result is a whisky that feels complete and balanced at this age, revealing both its Highland origins and Atlantic influence.

Tasting Profile

Nose:
Fresh and layered, with aromas of crisp apple, lemon zest, and sea spray, followed by gentle honey, vanilla pod, and a hint of orchard blossom.

Palate:
Medium-bodied and smooth, offering orchard fruit and citrus that evolve into honeyed malt, crème brûlée, and warm spice. A delicate saline undertone threads through, adding complexity and lift without overwhelming.

Finish:
Clean and enduring, with lingering honeyed fruit, soft oak spice, and a subtle briny echo that gently fades.
