Product Description

Distilled in 1976 at the historic Domaine de Jaurrey and bottled by the venerable Laberdolive family, this Bas‑Armagnac originates from the prized “sables fauves” sand and iron soils of Labastide d’Armagnac—a terroir celebrated for producing refined, aromatic eaux-de-vie.

🌟 Aging & Bottling

After four decades of maturation in estate-seasoned oak, this vintage was bottled at 44% ABV—its stories captured in every amber drop

👃 Nose

Rich and inviting: expect layers of molasses, burnt honey, and dark muscovado sugar. Warm notes of raisins, fruitcake, vanilla frosting, and a hint of old hardwood open with air

👄 Palate

Aged elegance unfolds with leather, dried figs, and caramelized quince. Citrus lift—lemon and yellow peach—ledges into gourmand moments of tarte Tatin, toast, and vanilla spice, supported by vibrant acidity

🔚 Finish

Long and balanced, finishing with dry spice, oak warmth, and a lingering citrus-note echo. The texture is fresh, refined, and deeply satisfying

🌟 Scores & Acclaim

A standout vintage—scored 96–97/100 by Vertdevin, with a rating of 18.25/20, celebrating its elegance, freshness, and gourmet complexity

🥃 Best Enjoyed

Serve neat in a tulip glass at room temperature to fully appreciate this layered masterpiece. Ideal for savoring after dinner or with dark chocolate, dried fruit desserts, or fine aged cheese.

In summary:
Laberdolive’s 1976 Domaine de Jaurrey Bas‑Armagnac is a refined masterpiece—showcasing four decades of heritage orchard-rich aromas, complex palate depth, and elegant spice structure. A rare and distinguished spirit for true connoisseurs.

750 ml, 44% ABV

The Laberdolive Armagnacs are hand made, vintage dated single-vineyard expressions of what a brandy should be.  I’ve told you the stories before: the legend goes that Nikita Khruschev once diverted his elaborate and heavily-guarded entourage to visit the distillery to acquire a bottle; and French President Jacques Chirac brought along a Laberdolive 1972 to toast on a state visit to China. These bottles are in all the top restaurants in Europe; David Ridgway, chef-sommelier at La Tour d'Argent in Paris, said that Laberdolive is "considered for a long time to be the benchmark of Armagnac."
