Product Description

A grand-cru Bas‑Armagnac from the esteemed Domaine du Pillon, distilled in 1962 and bottled at 44% ABV—celebrating over five decades of maturation in seasoned oak. A true treasure from the Laberdolive legacy.

👃 Aromatics

The nose offers a refined blend of orange-pekoe tea, cedar, black pepper, and aged oak. Underlying it all are subtly sweet notes of marshmallow, candied almonds, dried apricot, and honey.

👄 Palate & Texture

Full-bodied yet elegant, the palate reveals dark caramel, nougat, bittersweet chocolate, and layered mid-palate flavors—marshmallow, honey, and orchard fruit—finishing with nuanced complexity.

🔚 Finish

Velocity meets finesse: A deep, lengthy finish offers waves of dried fruit, oak, and spice—an enduring echo that invites another embrace.

🍷 Why It Matters

— A single-vintage classic from one of Bas‑Armagnac’s top terroirs.
— Nearly 60 years in oak yields profound depth while retaining elegance.
— A luxurious, contemplative sipping experience for true connoisseurs.

In essence:
Laberdolive’s 1962 Domaine du Pillon is a Bas‑Armagnac legend—rich, complex, and timeless. With waves of tea, fruit, spice, and oak, it rewards patient sipping and honors its heritage with every refined drop.

The Laberdolive Armagnacs are hand made, vintage dated single-vineyard expressions of what a brandy should be.  I’ve told you the stories before: the legend goes that Nikita Khruschev once diverted his elaborate and heavily-guarded entourage to visit the distillery to acquire a bottle; and French President Jacques Chirac brought along a Laberdolive 1972 to toast on a state visit to China. These bottles are in all the top restaurants in Europe; David Ridgway, chef-sommelier at La Tour d'Argent in Paris, said that Laberdolive is "considered for a long time to be the benchmark of Armagnac."
