Product Description

Murray Hill Club Bourbon is a striking modern interpretation of a historic pre-Prohibition blend, offering mature complexity, subtle refinement and an engaging depth for enthusiasts. It represents a blend built for sipping and savoring — robust yet polished.

Origins & Craftsmanship

Crafted by Jos. A. Magnus & Co., this bourbon revives the legendary “Murray Hill Club” recipe of the early 1900s. The current version artfully marries 18-year and 11-year bourbons with a 9-year-old light whiskey. It is bottled at 51.5% ABV (103 proof). The style and blending approach follow the historic techniques used by Joseph Magnus, leveraging sourced mature barrels and master blender Nancy Fraley’s expertise to craft a sophisticated and rare-style bourbon.

Critics Reviews

  • Spirits journalist Carin Moonin of The Whiskey Wash described the Bourbon’s nose as “caramel popcorn, blueberries, currants, hot chocolate with a brûléed marshmallow on top,” and praised its “sweet-yet-savory palate with black pepper and vanilla,” concluding it “lives up to high expectations.”

  • A respected reviewer at the blogging platform District Drams stated of a release: “Maple syrup and Nutella on the nose; bold apple-crumb cake flavours on the palate; gentle orchard fruit and star-anise finish showing restraint and maturity.”
These critiques highlight the whiskey’s richness, layered fruit and spice, and depth stemming from mature-aged components.

Tasting Profile

  • Nose: Softly amber-gold in the glass. Aromas of butterscotch, honeyed toffee, brown-butter popcorn, roasted nuts and subtle char give an indulgent yet mature feel.

  • Palate: Medium-to-full bodied. Flavours of vanilla bean, caramel drizzle, dried autumnal fruit (fig, raisin), baking spices (cinnamon, clove), and charred oak, with a background of black pepper and subtle cocoa.

  • Finish: Lengthy, warm and refined; lingering peppery spice, toasted oak, soft leather and a gentle sweet-smoke echo that invites another sip.
