Story Who is it that really determines who's allowed to be happy? Is it our family, our friends or our co-workers? Are we bound the responsibility of simply being a caring human being, heeding the call for assistance every time it's brought up? I once had a mentor say to me that just because someone throws you a ball, doesn't mean you need to catch it. That's the topic this ZOX was made to address.  I've spent nearly 9 years now in an amazing position - I get to see what moves people - what inspires them to take action versus what they ignore. In this process, I've found a group of people that are the epitome of what ZOX has always been about: Kind Souls.  Kind souls have this innate ability to practice empathy, to feel the pain someone else is going through and help them bear that burden together. They're the first to shed tears at the misfortunes of another; always quick to send a kind word of encouragement to someone who they can tell is going through a hard time. That led to a great question though: Who cares for the caring? Who picks up those who have fallen from exhaustion after carrying others their entire lives? Kind souls need help too.  That was the purpose of this ZOX - to tell those of you who have given selflessly that it's your turn to be happy. It's your turn to relax and let all of us, as a community, say thank you for bearing the burden. Of everyone I can think of, there's no one more deserving of happiness than those who give without expectation, and I wanted to take a moment to recognize each and every one of you.  My hope for this ZOX is that it makes you smile.
