Product Description
This strain is actually a blend of classic New England-style IPA strains. Coastal Haze produces beers with a hazy appearance and tropical, fruit-forward esters. The higher levels of attenuation produce dry yet juicy beers. Mango and pineapple characteristics add to the drinkability of your next east coast IPA.
**This strain has been genetically typed White Labs using polymerase chain reaction (PCR). Through this genetic testing, they have determined WLP067 Coastal Haze Ale Yeast Blend to contain the STA1 gene (glucoamylase), a potential indicator of Saccharomyces cerevisiae var. diastaticus. Brewers yeast are natural hybrids, which make it possible for certain strains to display elements of the STA1 gene. These strains have the ability to utilize some dextrins (unfermentable sugars), resulting in higher levels of attenuation than what is considered typical.**
Attenuation: 70-75%
Flocculation: Medium to Low
Alcohol Tolerance: Medium - High (8 - 12%)
Optimum Fermentation Temperature: 68-72°F
*NOTE:*During summer months, we include complimentary ice packs with all liquid yeast orders. However, it is difficult to guarantee that the ice packs will stay frozen given transit times and particularly hot temperatures. For this reason, we recommend ordering dry yeast during summer months.
