Suggestions
Use 1 tablespoon of five spice per 1 pound of meat or poultry (duck, pork, or goose are commonly used). To make a five spice blend with salt, put 1 tablespoon five spice and 1 tablespoon kosher salt in a dry pan, then toast over low heat until the ingredients are mixed. Use this as a rub on meat or for a salty and spicy cake icing add it to buttercream.
