In the blockbuster action movie 300 we see Lena Heady’s character Gorgo say to Leonidas “Come back with your shield or on it!” This is an old Spartan expression that spoke to how fierce and determined these ancient warrior really were. Of course, the movie was such a smash hit, it had people marching in a phalanx to get the coolest Spartan costume accessories, like this Spartan Combat Shield and Sword combo.
The Perfect Spartan Shield For Hand To Hand Combat
While most Spartan skirmishers used spears and long spears at the start of a battle, they would often switch to short swords and slightly smaller shields like this one to take on foes in one to one combat. It allowed for greater dexterity and range of motion, as well as the ability to block and parry quickly. This styled shield and sword combo can be stowed together for convenience. Shield is 12" in diameter. Also bear in mind that the entire combo is set up for costume use and cosplay. They are not battle-ready weapons for heavy-duty LARPing.
