Product Description

Smokeye Hill Barrel Proof is a bold, no-holds-barred bourbon that delivers maximum flavor and power. With its high proof, rich grain profile, and distinctive aging conditions in Colorado, it offers depth, intensity and character tailored for serious bourbon drinkers or collectors who appreciate full-force whiskies.

Ascot Awards 2024, Bourbon Of The Year

“The Smokeye Hill win is the greatest upset of any major competition Ive seen in my career. And the thing is, in a blind tasting, professional judges loved it over some of the biggest A listers in bourbon.” Fred Minnick

Origins & Craftsmanship
Distilled exclusively for the Smokeye Hill brand from a proprietary mash (including heirloom blue corn, yellow corn, rye and malted barley), the whiskey is initially created at Lawrenceburg, Indiana, then barreled, aged and bottled in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The aging occurs at high altitude and dry mountain climate, using 30- and 53-gallon new American white-oak barrels with char levels ranging from #2 to #5. The bourbon is bottled at full barrel strength (un-cut and un-filtered), with batch proofs typically ranging from ~131 proof (~65.5% ABV) and above.

The current Batch is 132.4 proof.

Tasting Profile

  • Nose: Rich and expressive—aromas of crème brûlée, vanilla bean, dark wood and leather. You’ll also pick up buttered pastry or graham-cracker hints, caramelised brown sugar and a subtle floral dimension from the blue corn.

  • Palate: Full-bodied with a creamy, layered texture. Sweetness leads with caramel and honey nougat, followed by dark fruits (raisins, brandy-soaked cherries), citrus zest (orange/ lemon), and spice—cinnamon, peppercorn and pine needles emerge. Underlying oak and tobacco leaf bring structure.

  • Finish: Long, warming and thoughtful. Notes linger of vanilla-caramel, dry oak tannin, herbal pepper, mint or licorice-root, and a touch of mineral or grain-corn dessert sweetness. The strength is evident but remains balanced by depth of flavour.
