Product Description

Echinacea (Echinacea purpurea) is a perennial wildflower of the Asteraceae family that is found all across Europe and North America. Echinacea grows to about 3-4 feet high and is easily recognized by its flower, purple petals surrounding a prominent cone-shaped seed head. Echinacea is well known to have been used by early indigenous people of North America for a vast range of medicinal purposes, often topically or to address colds and flu. In the 19th century, the American Eclectics picked up some of this knowledge and Echinacea became perhaps the most widely used in their medical practices well into the 20th century. There are many different species of Echinacea, and many differing viewpoints on how best to use it. Echinacea purpurea is the most extensively studied and commonly used in Europe, often as a support for the immune system. It can be steeped for a mild tasting tea, tinctured, or used in topical applications.

Common names: Echinacea, coneflower, purple coneflower, purple Kansas coneflower, comb flower, Missouri snakeroot

Precautions: Caution is advised in the case of Aster sensitivities. We recommend that you consult with a qualified healthcare practitioner before using herbal products, particularly if you are pregnant, nursing, or on any medications.
