A Strong, Classic Tree Suitable for Every Yard

Why Shumard Oak Trees?

Give your family the gift of a long-standing, durable tree. The Shumard Oak tree is a familiar tree in the American landscape. It will live with your family for generations and stay strong in every imaginable condition.

The Shumard Oak is one of the most resilient trees you can plant in your yard. This tree can withstand floods, droughts and extremely strong winds. You'll never need to worry about how the Shumard Oak will hold up in inclement weather. The wood of this tree is so beloved for its strength that it can be found in American homes across the country in furniture, floors and carpentry.

Native to Kansas, but thriving nearly everywhere, the Shumard Oak is perfect for any landscape. The Shumard Oak survives in nearly any soil condition and environment in zones 5 to 9. From urban landscapes to soggy land by rivers and dry, open pastures, this tree is tolerant and adaptable. If you've tried planting picky trees in frustrating parts of your yard, you'll be happy to find the Shumard Oak can likely thrive there.

Why Fast-Growing-Trees.com is Better

Growing tall and straight, the Shumard Oak is the perfect shade tree. With a handsome, tall trunk and a gorgeous set of leathery green leaves and sturdy branches that form a rounded crown, it makes a statement.

But the best part is that we've planted, grown and nurtured each Shumard with absolute care, so you reap the rewards of our hard work in your own landscape. We deliver a better-developed, healthier tree, right to your door.

Planting & Care

1. Planting: Plant your Red Oak in a spot in your yard that receives at least 6 hours of direct sunlight each day. Pick a spot that will give this tree plenty of room to grow.

Dig a hole large enough to accommodate the tree's root ball. After you plant the tree, tamp down the soil until it is firm. Thoroughly water the base of the tree, so that water penetrates the roots. Spread a good amount of mulch around the base of the tree to retain moisture.

2. Watering: Water the tree to keep the ground moist. Watering deeply, once a week, should be enough to help your young tree establish roots. Once your tree matures, you only need to water in the dry seasons where you get less than 1 inch of rainfall each month.

3. Fertilizing: If you notice that your tree is not growing 2 feet every year, you can add a general purpose fertilizer once a year.
