Product Description

A standout among blanco tequilas, ArteNOM Selección de 1123 Blanco “Histórico” surprises with depth, elegance and subtle barrel nuance rarely found in a blanco. This is ideal for sipping neat and for aficionados eager to explore terroir-driven lowland agave with artisanal finishing.

Origins & Craftsmanship

Produced by the Rosales family at the distinguished Destilería Cascahuín in El Arenal, Jalisco, this expression is made from 100% Blue Weber agave grown at lower-altitude “valley” fields (characterised by lower-brix, more vegetal/herbaceous notes). The NOM (1123) distillery uses valley-style agave rather than high-altitude Highlands, resulting in earthy, green-agave character. After double distillation, the tequila is barrel-conditioned for approximately 21-28 days in brandy casks that previously held Oaxacan mezcal—an homage to early-1900s Blanco styles and giving this tequila its “Histórico” designation. It is bottled at 43% ABV (86 proof) and crafted free from additives, highlighting purity and craft nuance.

Critics Reviews

  • One tequila reviewer described this expression as offering “roasted pineapple, warm butter, baking spices and smoked pepper on the nose, followed by viscous hot cinnamon, black pepper, sweet potato, vanilla and almond on the palate.”

  • Another industry voice noted that the Casas Cascahuín low-brix valley agave here yields “earthy, vegetal and herbaceous tones with a slight peppery drive,” and the short barrel-conditioning adds a subtle smoky and wood-layered complexity without overwhelming the agave.

  • Enthusiasts in tequila-community commentary praise the “balance between agave clarity and barrel-whisper finishing,” calling it rare for a blanco to carry such depth while remaining fresh.

Tasting Profile

  • Nose: Straw-gold colour; aromas of roasted pineapple, warm butter, baking spice, smoked pepper, subtle cider and herbaceous agave leaf.

  • Palate: Medium body; fruit-sweetness (pineapple, cooked agave), followed by hot cinnamon, black pepper, sweet potato, vanilla, licorice and almond, then a hint of hardwood smoke.

  • Finish: Bright and moderately long; the peppery heat and herbal agave notes linger, balanced by residual vanilla and almond, with a clean fade.
