Introducing the Sailor King of Pens Maki-e Ukiyo-e “Horibe Yahei Kanemaru.”
This limited edition fountain pen is a tribute to one of Japan’s most enduring historical legends. The design is inspired by the work of Utagawa Kuniyoshi, a renowned ukiyo-e artist of the Edo period who portrayed the figure of Horibe Yahei Kanemaru. As one of the forty-seven Ronin of Ako, Kanemaru is a central figure in the famous "Chushingura" story. Remarkably, he was the oldest of the group at seventy-seven years of age when he took part in the historic raid to avenge his lord. To this day, he is remembered as a symbol of bravery and one of the most respected members of the loyal retainers.
The craftsmanship involved in this release is truly exceptional and reflects the highest standards of Japanese artistry. Each pen is meticulously handcrafted using the Maki-e technique, where intricate designs are applied by hand. The body of the pen is constructed from ebonite, a material prized by collectors for its warm feel and durability. To ensure a world-class writing experience, the pen features an oversized KOP 21K Gold nib with elegant bicolor plating, produced at Sailor’s factory in Kure, Hiroshima.
Each pen is housed in an elegant Paulownia wooden box, befitting its status as a collector’s treasure.
Please also note we are unable to accept a return of this pen for any reason once it has been used with ink. Please thoroughly inspect and dry test the pen before use.
