Product Description

The Rozés Vintage 2017 Port is a powerful, deeply structured Douro red—a classic vintage port that combines rich blackberry and cassis fruit, firm tannins, and fresh acidity, all wrapped in a serious, age-worthy framework. It’s elegant now, but built to reward cellaring through 2050.

🍷 Vintage Context

  • Vintage 2017 was marked by hot, dry conditions with lower yields and early picks, yielding structured wines with ripe yet vibrant fruit and solid acidity

👃 Aromas & Nose

  • Displays a deep red hue, and emits aromas of balsamic herbs, dark spice, black cherries, plum, and subtle vegetal notes

  • Secondary hints of candied mandarin, cocoa, walnuts, and spices add complexity

👄 Palate & Structure

  • On the palate, expect concentrated black and blue fruit—blackberry, currant, raspberry—wrapped in firm, chewy tannins and lively acidity

  • accompanied by nuances of cedar, pepper, floral lift, and a mineral-tinged core—but always remaining refined

🔚 Finish & Ageing Potential

  • The finish is long, persistent, and balanced, with ripe sweetness, tannin grip, and a spicy—possibly balsamic or cigar-box—echo

  • With robust structure and age, it's drinkable now, but will elegantly mature from 2028 onward, with potential into the 2050s

🎯 Score & Comparisons

  • Earned 95 points from Robert Parker, praised for its depth and elegance

  • Wine Enthusiast highlights its freshness, acidity, and concentrated black fruit

🥂 Serving & Pairing

  • Serve at 14–16 °C, ideally decanted to smooth its structure.

  • Pairs beautifully with dark chocolate desserts, strong cheeses (like Stilton), game meats, or cigars.

✅ Final Take

Rozés 2017 is a taut, compelling vintage port—intense and nuanced, serious yet balanced. Its vibrant fruit and structure make it excellent now, but it promises rich reward for collectors willing to cellar it. A solid mid-tier vintage port with real staying power. 750 ml.

"The 2017 Vintage Port is a 40/35 blend of Touriga Franca and Touriga Nacional with 15% Sousão, plus miscellaneous others, unoaked and coming in with 103 grams of residual sugar. When seen before, this was very good but too tight. It is still too tight, but it has become far more expressive. The aromatics in particular are exceptional now, throwing off some violets and herbs. It's delicious too. It adds sensual texture. The more I taste this, the more I have to say that I grievously underestimated it early on. Mea culpa. It seems increasingly brilliant. It also seems likely to improve much more. It shows old-school power and has plenty of room to improve." Robert Parker 95+ Points

"Packed with ripe black fruits, the wine also has freshness and great acidity. Behind all this are immense tannins, rich fruit and a solid potential. This is going to be a sweeter style, ripe with concentrated luscious black fruits. Drink from 2028." Wine Enthusiast 95 Points, Editor's Choice
