Many home gardeners consider the Hori Hori knife one of the most indispensable garden tools ever. We don't go into the garden without it. Dig, prune, cut open bags, deadhead, saw through roots, measure the depth of a planting…this knife can do it all. It's even curved to act as a trowel. The only thing that can be frustrating is that the substantial weight can be tiring. Hori Hori knives were originally created to collect bonsai trees and vegetables growing on Japanese mountainsides, so this is one heavy-duty tool. Our Preferred Hori Hori knife has all the capabilities of pricier varieties, but it is a much lighter blade, so it's easier on busy hands. It is made of quality materials—the blade is chrome molybdenum steel, which resists rust and holds a strong, sharp edge. The handle is sturdy, smooth wood. The blade has a serrated edge on one side for sawing and a straight edge on the other for cutting. L12½"xW2"; ¾" thick
