Product Description

750 ml, 100% Pinot Noir

"This red offers cherry, currant, spice and smoky, charred oak flavors. Firms up on the finish, but shows intensity and fine length. Ends with a mineral note. Best from 2019 through 2030. 15 cases imported." Wine Spectator 91 Points

Pierre Damoy took over his family estate from his uncle, Jacque Damoy, in 1992. This impressive holding, which was established by his great-great grandfather Julien Damoy, is one of the jewels of the Côte d’Or. The holdings included three of the most esteemed grand crus in Burgundy. Pierre owns 35 percent of the magnificent Chambertin-Clos de Bèze and 40 percent of Chapelle-Chambertin and boasts one hectare of Chambertin. When he took over, the estate had fallen into mediocrity despite the prestigious vineyard sourcing. With a state-of-the-art winery and improved, earth-friendly vineyard practices, he revitalized the wines and transformed Domaine Pierre Damoy into one of Gevrey’s most promising sources. Damoy’s holdings represent 0.84 acres.

Grapes (30% whole cluster) are cold soaked for gentle flavor extraction, followed by fermentation in small, open vats, with hand punchdowns (pigéage) during active fermentation. Extended skin contact (cuvaison) may be given to some of the wines to soften tannins and enhance varietal complexity. Wines are rarely racked during 14 to 18 months of aging on the fine lees, and there is no fining or filtration before bottling.
