Product Description
Exotic yet refined, Paul John Edited bridges the gap between unpeated and peated single malt — a beautifully balanced whisky where tropical Indian malt richness meets a gentle wisp of Islay-style smoke. Complex, silky, and intriguingly coastal, it’s a gateway into the Goa distillery’s distinctive style.
Origins & Craftsmanship
Produced by John Distilleries in Goa, India, Paul John Edited is crafted from six-row Indian barley grown at high altitude in the Himalayan foothills. The distillery’s tropical coastal climate accelerates maturation, developing depth and concentration within just a few years.
The “Edited” expression combines primarily unpeated Indian single malt with a portion of peated Scottish malt, introducing subtle smoke and maritime nuance without overwhelming the malt’s natural sweetness. Distilled in traditional copper pot stills and matured in ex-bourbon casks, it’s bottled at 46 % ABV, non-chill-filtered to preserve texture and full aromatic character.
Critics Reviews

-
Whisky Advocate highlighted its “gentle smoky backbone with notes of dark chocolate, honey, and spice… elegant and deeply satisfying.”
-
The Spirits Business awarded it Gold in the World Whisky Masters, commending its “exceptional integration of peat and fruit.”
Tasting Profile
-
Nose: Opens with warm honey, barley sugar, cocoa nibs, and roasted coffee bean, gently accented by distant peat smoke and sea breeze. Hints of mint, oak spice, and green apple add lift.
-
Palate: Silky and rich, offering flavors of malted biscuit, caramelized sugar, mocha, and toasted coconut. The peat emerges mid-palate — delicate and dry — framing notes of milk chocolate and ripe banana.
-
Finish: Long, mellow, and balanced. Layers of sweet malt, soft smoke, and cocoa linger, leaving a lightly spiced, satisfying close.
