"The Third of six pieces in a grouping designed to convey the mystery of exceptional, rare Australian Black and Crystal Opals and Mexican Fire Opals. I was inspired by animals and all the diverse colors you find in both nature and the opals. The animals were perfect as my muse. I wanted, of course, the stone to be the star…and then the animal it becomes is rather architectural in design. Each piece, a one of a kind, shows off the iridescent colors in these beautiful opals but also takes on the characteristics of the animal. The final wearers become attached and that’s how opals find their final destination. Focusing on each creature’s inherent beauty when structuring the opal against the other gems creates something totally unique." – Monica Rich Kosann
