Product Description

Symphony Series No. 2 is an ambitious reposado from Mijenta that weaves together multi-wood barrel artistry with highland agave purity. At 45% ABV, it’s more powerful than many standard reposados, yet remains balanced. The interplay of different oak staves gives this tequila layers of unexpected texture and flavor—coconut, vanilla, cooked agave, spices—all coming together in a refined, rich spirit. It’s well suited for sipping neat (or with a single ice cube), or in a cocktail where aged tequila shines.

Origins & Craftsmanship

  • Produced by Mijenta Tequila, NOM 1499, in the Highlands of Jalisco, Mexico.

  • Part of Mijenta’s Symphony Series, which experiments with barrel aging using “symphony barrels”—barrels built from oak staves sourced from four U.S. states: Minnesota, Missouri, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. Each wood type contributes unique aromatic / flavor components.

  • Aged for approximately 8 months in those symphony barrels.

  • Bottled at 45% ABV (90 proof), giving extra strength to reveal nuances from the wood and agave.

Tasting Profile

Element Notes
Colour / Appearance Light straw yellow with some silver undertones; medium-to-full body appearance.
Nose / Aroma Cooked agave centre stage, then vanilla, caramel, banana. Subtle hints of citrus fruit, fresh herbs, and almond. Some toasted oak / barrel spices emerge from the mix of woods.
Palate / Taste Rich texture. Agave, vanilla and caramel appear again, plus banana. Then chocolate, almond, mint, and warm spices like cardamom & clove show up. Minor oak tannins give structure without harshness.
Finish Warm, lingering with sweetness and spice. The wood influence persists—vanilla, toasted coconut, maybe a touch of bittersweet chocolate or oak spice. Balanced and evolving rather than sharp.

Food & Cocktail Pairings

Here are suggestions to get the most out of this tequila:

  • Cocktails

    • Sipped neat or with a single large ice cube to appreciate the wood & spice interplay.

    • A reposado-style Old Fashioned variant (tequila in place of whiskey) to highlight barrel aging.

    • Rich tequila Negroni riffs or “Tequila Manhattan”-style cocktails where the oak and spice can stand up to bitters and vermouth.

  • Food Pairings

    • Savory meats: Grilled pork, roasted chicken, or smoked meats—especially with spices like clove, cardamom.

    • Chocolate & desserts: Dark chocolate, chocolate with nuts, coconut desserts; banana bread or caramelized banana desserts echo the banana/vanilla in the tequila.

    • Fruit & Nuts: Roasted almonds, pecans; dried fruits like figs; stone fruits or citrus fruit tarts.

    • Spicy & Warm: Foods with warm spices (cinnamon, nutmeg, pepper) or grilled vegetables.
