Hand-carved 18-karat yellow gold clip back earrings in a signature LALAoUNIS rams head design. In 1940, founder Ilias Lalaounis began his career at age twenty by apprenticing at his uncle's prestigious jewelry company. It was during this time that he decided to breathe new life into Greek museum artifacts, transforming them into jewelry by reviving age-old techniques through the use of modern technology. Launching his own company in the 1960s, his collections, dripping in 18- and 22-karat gold, were inspired by the art of many different cultures and periods — his interest spanned from prehistoric to Minoan art, from Persian to Byzantine, from Chinese art to the art of the Tudors. Today, his children continue to maintain the LALAoUNIS legacy.
