Ore Liete’s Italian Egg Shaped Easter Cake with Chocolate Drops is a new take on the classic Colomba Pasquale. The buttery, chewy dough is flavored with gourmet-grade cocoa, filled with chocolate drops, and covered in milk chocolate icing and chocolate sprinkles, creating a richer, sweeter, somewhat denser version of the traditional pastry.

In Italy, that traditional Easter bread is Colomba Pasquale, i.e., “Easter Dove,” aptly named for its dove-shaped form. Colomba dough is made similarly to Panettone, the traditional Christmas bread: with an ample amount of butter, sugar, eggs, and flour.
