Origins & Craftsmanship Glen Scotia distillery is located in Campbeltown, Scotland — one of only three functioning distilleries in that once-renowned whisky region.  Double Cask is matured initially in first-fill bourbon barrels, then finished for up to 12 months in Pedro Ximénez (PX) sherry casks.  It is a non-age-statement (NAS) whisky—no age claim is made.  ABV: 46% (92 proof).  Tasting Profile Aspect Notes & Observations Appearance / Colour Warm amber / burnished gold hue. (Note: some color added)  Nose / Aroma Rich sweetness up front: crème caramel, toffee, fudge, candied fruit, caramelized sugars. Over time, aromas of peach, apple, dusty oak, and a hint of sea salt spray emerge.  Palate / Taste Sweet and silky at first: caramel, stewed plums, raisins, PX-style sherry richness, layered with vanilla oak, baking spice (cinnamon / nutmeg), and subtle oak dryness. Also some salted caramel and light salted tang in the mid palate.  Finish Medium finish: sherry sweetness lingers, along with oak spice, a touch of smoke or dust, and a saline or herbal salinity. Some reviewers find it a bit short on length, but flavorful to the end.  Food & Pairing Suggestions Serve: Best neat in a tulip or Glencairn glass to concentrate aromas. A drop or two of water can help open it further, especially for the sherry components.
