Product Description

A poetic expression of Irish whiskey artistry, Garavogue 20-Year-Old blends age-old depth with inventive spirit. Its layered sweetness, delicate complexity, and silky evolution make every sip feel like retracing the flowing Garavogue River itself.

Origins & Craftsmanship

  • Distillery & Legacy: Crafted at Sazerac’s rebranded Hawk’s Rock Distillery (formerly Lough Gill) in County Sligo, a site steeped in literary and cultural heritage.

  • Style & Maturation: Double-distilled, initially matured for at least 14 years in ex-bourbon American oak, then finished in a creative blend of French Muscat, Sauternes, Pedro Ximénez (PX) sherry, and Barbadian rum casks.

  • Bottling: Non-chill-filtered, non-colored, bottled at 47% ABV (94 proof), preserving natural character and depth.

  • Release: Limited inaugural release rolling out from June 2025 across the U.S., U.K., Ireland, and selected Duty-Free (700 ml).

Tasting Profile

  • Nose: A vibrant, layered entrance—crème brûlée, sun-ripened stone fruit (peach/apricot), candied orange; lifting florals from Sauternes; honeysuckle and raisin whispers from Muscat and sherry.

  • Palate: Bursts of orange sherbet, vanilla soft serve, and peach syrup evolve into citrus sparks—candied peel, grapefruit—soft creaminess, caramel, molasses, oak, grape must, and nutty malt tones.

  • Finish: Rich and layered—white grapes and golden raisins, PX sherry sweetness, gentle coffee, malt, roast nuts, and echoes of tropical fruit. A finish that recalls refined column-distilled rums.

  • Score: Honored with 93 points by VinePair, praising its elegance and multi-faceted depth.
