Our samples are either packaged by the perfume house, or hand-poured here at Smallflower and presented in a spray vial. Each vial is filled to a variable volume to reflect the concentration of the fragrance being sampled. About the Fragrance: Luscious and radiant, Monserrat blends juicy grapefruit, apricot, and green leaves with an unusual, fresh setting plaster note. It features the earthy notes of carrot seed essential oil and a dash of osmanthus absolute, a flower often used to scent oolong tea. "Monserrat was the second perfume I ever showed in a gallery. I wanted to revisit the fruity-floral, but in a grown-up way, without any fruit punch or candy notes. I showed it alongside paintings with soft, sun-faded colors. I was inspired by Italian fresco paintings (murals painted directly into wet, setting plaster). The fragrance is named for a paint color with a soft apricot/orange quality. The fragrance uses Osmanthus absolute, which has a delightful apricot note but also a very earthy/funky undertone, so it needs to be dosed carefully.
