The 12mm guide pin helps stabilize the tool while in use. It's compatible with Shimano, SRAM (including 1x), SunRace, SunTour, Chris King, and other 12-spline cassette lockrings (23.5mm diameter) as well as some Shimano and similar disc brake rotor lockrings.
