Trailcampro Analysis

Picture Quality:     78/100

Photo resolution: 12, 8, 5 or 2 mpxl  |  Video Resolution: 720P/30FPS & 1080P/15FPS w/ audio  |  Flash Type:  No Glow Infrared

Daytime picture quality seems to be heavily affected by the light present - but most cameras are - but are overall, very nice photos.  Night pictures are also well above average with good contrast, decent flash range, and minimal "white noise."

[powr-image-slider id=3f915e20_1470674786]

Videos aren't super-sharp in clarity, but otherwise are very solid both day and night.

Megapixel Ratings:

In the past, many people get confused with the megapixel rating trail camera manufacturers advertise.  Companies inflate the mpxl rating to attract eyes to their products.  They do this through interpolation, which digitally adds megapixels to a photo without actually improving the picture.

The best way to judge picture quality is to look at actual pictures.  You will notice this the most when you zoom in on a full-size image that a camera has taken.  The details of the photo will appear hazy or even digitized.  This is normal, and to be expected.

Battery Life:     60/100

Resting Power (on):  2.46 mW  |  Daytime Power Consumption:  4.80 Ws |  Nighttime Power Consumption:  7.59 Ws

The battery data above is slightly below average in terms of efficiency.

If this Exodus Lift trail camera for sale were to take 35-day pictures and 35-night pictures every 24 hour period, this camera would last 5.6 months in the field on a set of 8 AA lithium batteries.

Detection Circuit:     58/100

Picture Trigger & Recovery Speed: 1.02 s. / 4.7 s.  |  Video Trigger & Recovery Speed:  0.99 s. / 9.8 s.  |  Detection Range:  50 ft.

Picture detection is slightly below average.  Video trigger speed is great, but recovery time is very slow.

This camera only detected out to 50 ft. in our 2016 Detection Shootout and scored 49th out of 51 cameras.

Overall, this detection circuit is below average.

Quality of Design:     78/100

Dimensions: 4.5" x 6" x 3"  |  Battery Type:  8 AA Batteries  |  External Battery Jack:  12 Volt

The Lift is marginally larger than most other cameras.  The latches are different from what we have seen in the past.  There is one on either side and the cover hangs down instead of to the side.  The camera we are testing makes a cracking sound when the latch is snapped shut.  The seal on the inside of the camera has also slid off its mark several times.  Without noticing this, moisture could have made its way into the camera.

The camera has a 1/4" x 20 threaded insert on the bottom and back of the camera for a slate river mount.  It also has a built-in bracket for a python cable lock.

The only tricky thing about programming is  the switch has to be in "Test" mode for setup.  The rest of the programming is very simple and intuitive.  The camera even has start/stop time, which is a nice, underrated feature.

Durability is unknown at this time.  We will update the review if anything comes up.
