Sculptural and organic, the Drop Three is the final instalment in Original BTC’s Drop collection. Pushing bone china to its very limits, the Drop Three uses highly skilled, labour-intensive processes to create its beautifully curved form. Unlike its predecessors, available in either a gloss or matte finish, the final Drop is presented unglazed, to emphasise bone china’s natural purity. The hand-smoothed shade is fitted with a satin brass cap, cord grip, grey cotton braided cable and a matching bone china ceiling rose echoing the Drop Three’s voluptuous lines.
Each bone china piece is manufactured according to traditional methods by our highly skilled team in Stoke-on-Trent, where now only a handful of ceramic factories exist. The process begins with a slip (clay and water mix) being poured into moulds. Once set, the moulds are split and the shade, base or ceiling rose is removed and left overnight to dry before being sponged and fettled to remove any imperfections. The items are finally biscuit fired or dipped in a glaze and gloss-fired for a natural white finish.
