Taking one of the most important designs of Mathieu Matégot’s career – 1955’s Copacabana Chair – GUBI has given the piece a 360 º upgrade while preserving the designer’s distinctive vision. An elegant swirl of stainless steel topped with a soft, circular cushion, the Copacabana has been adapted to move seamlessly between indoors and out. The seat and backrest angles have been optimized for comfort when sitting, and new durable, weather resistant upholstery fabrics are combined with frame options in black and a new bright and brilliant International Orange. These sensitive enhancements in color, function, and ergonomics have resulted in a design icon of the mid-20th-century, reinvented for the 21st.
