Product Description

This release from the venerable house of Lallier marries elegance and precision with a bold, vintage-inspired personality. The Réflexion R.021 shows bright citrus lift, fine mineral detail and remarkable depth for a multi-vintage Brut — making it both refined and expressive.

Origins & Craftsmanship

Produced in the esteemed Champagne region of France, the Réflexion series from Lallier focuses on journeying through each year’s character. The R.021 blend is built principally from the 2021 harvest (approx. 70% of the blend) with a portion of reserve wines, and features a dominant presence of Pinot Noir (~49%) from Montagne de Reims, Aÿ and Côte des Bar, along with Chardonnay (~44%) from Côte des Blancs and Meunier (~7%). The wine rests on fine lees for an extended period (the maturity is a signature of the house) and is bottled at roughly 12.5% ABV. The result is a Brut Champagne with pronounced terroir clarity, refined texture and ageing potential.

Critics Reviews

  • Sommelier and wine writer Kate Dingwall described the R.021 as “pale yellow in the glass with lime peel and mandarin aromas, accompanied by honeysuckle florals and honey-rich lees. On the palate there is saline minerality, precision and a finish that stretches on forever.”

  • A luxury food & drink commentary (in Maxim) celebrated the release for “capturing 2021’s fresh intensity in champagne form — the Réflexion line is an ode to each harvest and this edition shines for its clarity and poise.”

  • Industry observers point out that this edition “balances freshness of the vintage with depth built through reserve wines and long cellar time — impressive for a Brut rather than a vintage-only bottling.”

Tasting Profile

  • Nose: Pale straw with hints of light gold. Fragrant aromas of key-lime zest, ripe mandarin, honeysuckle, fresh pastry dough and subtle hazelnut or brioche top notes.

  • Palate: Bright and finely structured: citrus (grapefruit, mandarin), orchard-peach and white-flower blossoms underpinned by chalky mineral notes and a whisper of lees-autolysis. The Pinot Noir gives backbone and texture; the Meunier and Chardonnay provide elegance and lift.

  • Finish: Long, clean and saline-tinged; finishing with a firm drive from oak-reserve wines and a sustained echo of citrus rind and fine brioche. There is a clear sense of maturity beneath the freshness.
