Product Description
The Casanova di Neri 2019 Brunello di Montalcino Tenuta Nuova is a compelling example of modern Tuscan excellence—rich yet fresh, layered yet elegant. With expressive violet and red-currant aromatics, refined tannins and vibrant acidity, it strikes a rewarding balance of power and finesse and invites both near-term enjoyment and mid-term ageing.
Origins & Craftsmanship
Produced by Casanova di Neri in the Montalcino DOCG of Tuscany, Italy, the “Tenuta Nuova” flagship is crafted exclusively from 100 % Sangiovese grown on the estate’s south- and southeast-facing vineyards. The 2019 vintage shows intense ruby-red colour and a rigorous profile, thanks to careful vineyard management, hand-harvesting in September/October, and vinification in traditional large Slavonian oak and French barriques followed by prolonged ageing. The result is a wine of definition and structure, designed to reflect both site and vintage.
Tasting Profile
Nose: An intense bouquet of wild violet and lavender petals, red currant, bergamot citrus peel, and subtle eucalyptus and crushed rosemary leaf.
Palate: Full-bodied yet polished, with succulent dark cherry and morello cherry fruit refined by underlying notes of sage, blood orange zest and cocoa nib. Tannins are fine-grained and chalky, while acidity remains lively and vibrant—giving drive and freshness.
Finish: A long, savoury close with hints of licorice root, graphite and toasted spice. The structure is poised, signalling real ageing potential yet accessible now with decanting.

"In my mind, this is the wine that best represents the Casanova di Neri house style. With 30 months of aging in tonneaux, it shows enormous richness and texture, and the stellar fruit quality appears with more primary elegance compared to the more expensive Cerretalto that is released with an extra year of aging. That dynamic is especially pronounced in a comparison of the 2019 and 2018 vintages. The 2019 Brunello di Montalcino Tenuta Nuova has a dark vein of toasted spice, black fruit, ink, blackberry compote, licorice and star anise. Dark as night, it is exceptionally well crafted with a robust delivery of concentrated fruit and solid tannic structure. You can count on excellent cellar potential, or at a minimum, serve it with a classic steak. Production is exactly 69,696 bottles." Robert Parker 97 Points
"The fruit profile in this red is ripe, with boysenberry, cherry and raspberry flavors that show shades of earth, iron and tobacco. More linear than square, with a steely line of acidity and tannins for support. Though balanced, this is compact for now, with fine length. Best from 2027 through 2043. 5,800 cases made, 1,250 cases imported." Wine Spectator 96 Points
"Black cherries with violets and other flowers on the nose. Full-bodied with chewy tannins and a juicy finish. Needs time to soften. Give it three to five years of bottle age." James Suckling 96 Points
