Description

Cinnamon Leaf Essential Oil is derived from the leaves of an evergreen tree, native to Sri Lanka. Three distinct oils are produced by C. zeylanicum: bark, leaf, and root. The trees may reach approximately 60 ft in height. In leaf cultivation, the continual removal of shoots by cropping the young tree to almost ground level results in the formation of a dense bush with ample leaves and shoots. After trimming and pruning, the leaves left behind from the cutting of the stems are usually allowed to dry for a few days before distillation. The leaves are then collected and laid in piles along two ropes. These ropes are used to roll the leaves into bundles which are carried out of the plantation by workers on foot. The bundles are transported to the still, where they are placed into the vats for distillation. This regular maintenance provides the basis of raw material to produce Cinnamon Leaf oil. Cinnamon Leaf Oil is pale-yellow to dark yellow. It has a gentler effect than Cinnamon Bark oil, due to a higher content of eugenol. Cinnamon Leaf Essential Oil has a warm, spicy, sweet, and somewhat sharp aroma. The scent of is not as full bodied as Cinnamon Bark. Genuine natural Cinnamon Leaf Essential Oil is re-distilled to remove color.
