The Best Apple Tree for Southern Climates

The Anna Apple Tree is the perfect fruit producer for warmer climates. Loads of apples are ready in June, providing you with months of recipe ideas. Plus, it's self-pollinating and produces fruit in the first or second year, so the entire process couldn't be easier.

So, get ready for a barrel full of apples from your Anna. The compact shape belies its bounty of irresistible tasting fruits. Suitable for the Gulf and lower South climates, this tree needs a minimal amount of chilling time to produce in early summer. Startling flowers of red and white tones bloom for long periods, creating ideal pollination.

You can store your apples for up to two months in the fridge to take advantage of all your cooking desires. Nutritionally, your apples will keep the doctor away thanks to Vitamins A, C, and loads of fiber.

Best of all, the Anna is perhaps the easiest of apple varieties to maintain. Suitable in most soils, the Anna Apple only needs it to be well-drained to grow well. Prune once and well in the winter. You can even keep it at arms-length size for easy picking. That's it. Minimal work for a big harvest...we've put in the work pruning, growing and nurturing so that you don't have to.

Get your Anna Apple Tree now and watch the fruits of your little labor come to life!

Planting & Care

1. Planting: For best results, find a location with well-drained soil and full sun - about 6 hours of sunlight per day. Once you've selected a location, dig a hole that's twice the width of the root ball and just as deep. Then, place your tree, back fill and tamp down the soil, and water to settle the soil. Finally, mulch to retain moisture.

*Tip: Make sure your mulch is not touching the base of the trunk.

2. Watering: Your apple will benefit from a regular watering each week, though you may have to water more during times of drought. If you're not sure when to water, simply check the soil down to a depth of about 2 or 3 inches - if it's dry here, it's time to water.

3. Pruning: Once your tree has become established and is starting to bear fruit, it will need some periodic, moderate pruning. Only prune the tree during times of dormancy, making sure to remove any vigorous, upright stems and weak, damaged or dead branches.
