Product Description
Adrien Camut “Prestige” Calvados is one of the most extraordinary and mature expressions produced by the legendary Camut estate in Normandy. A blend of exceptionally old Calvados approaching half a century in age, it delivers breathtaking complexity—concentrated baked apple, preserved fruit, walnut-like rancio, leather, espresso, and sweet tobacco. Silky and contemplative, it stands among the most revered aged apple brandies in the world and represents the pinnacle of traditional Calvados Pays d’Auge craftsmanship.
Origins & Craftsmanship
Adrien Camut Calvados is produced at Domaine de Semainville in the Pays d’Auge region of Normandy, an area widely regarded as the finest terroir for apple brandy. The Camut family has been cultivating orchards and distilling Calvados on the estate for generations, producing small quantities of traditional, long-aged brandy from their own apples.
The apples used in Camut Calvados come from estate orchards planted with multiple heritage apple varieties, carefully harvested and pressed into cider before fermentation. The cider is then double-distilled in copper pot stills, a requirement of the Pays d’Auge appellation and a method known for producing deeply aromatic spirits suited for long aging.
The Prestige cuvée is composed of extremely mature Calvados aged for nearly fifty years, making it one of the oldest regular bottlings released by the estate.
The spirit is matured in large Limousin oak vats and tonneaux, many decades old themselves, which impart subtle oxidation and complexity without overpowering the delicate apple character. The barrels are intentionally filled below capacity to encourage slow evaporation and natural concentration over time.
Bottled at 40% ABV, the final blend represents decades of careful cellar management, with the fruit essence evolving into profound tertiary notes while still retaining the signature orchard character that defines great Calvados.
