For this limited edition, the whisky is matured for 15 years in refill and hogshead casks, then finished in hand-selected red-wine casks from the Bolgheri region of Tuscany, Italy—an area known for robust “Super-Tuscan” style wines made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc grapes. The finish in Italian red-wine casks adds a distinct layer of dark fruit richness, spice and oak influence while preserving Aberfeldy’s core character.
